Once upon a time
An angry little girl found a dime
She liked to commit crimes
Although she didn’t get caught all the time
Out of anger she threw this dime
The hit an old lady holding a lime
The lime fell out of the old lady’s reach
So she screamed rather sharp with a screech
The angry little girl ran away
And thought, “She wasn’t going to eat that lime anyway!”

Are We Failing Our Geniuses?
What is the difference between a challenged kid "trying" to learn more, and an advanced kid "striving to learn more? The difference is, is that the advanced student can make a difference. Now the question is, why is it that the challenged student often gets more attention brought to them rather than the advanced student? Most people simlply think by teaching a challenged student something new, they just might get a lesson out of it. With that brought to words now i must ask, what is this challenged student going to do with this new knowledge? Four out of five times absolutely nothing! Now if we switched that around and put an advanced student in the mix, the repsonse would be the exact opposite of a challenged student.
This situation occurs every single day somewhere in this world. Challenged students more than likely will get more attention than advanced students in school. If that is the situation, that means one of these students may not be where they should be. More than likely the advanced student is the one being neglected of their learning. To me, that doesn't make sense at all. Why not put the advanced students where they should be? If that means skip a few grades, than skip a few grades. Most people disagree with this in fear of a particular student having social or emotional issues. Defending that issue, I am going to argue by saying, studies show more kids who were not allowd to be challenged at a level necessary, have more soical and emotional problems than students who were. Yet still school systems aren't allowing advanved students skip grades that need to be skipped. Personally I disagree with this method, and I'm sure many people out there may feel the same way I do.
Recently, I heard of the Davidson Academy for advanced students. These overly intelligent students, are well active in their school, socially active inparticular. Some people may have negative opinions about this school, but I for one think highly of it. I wish others to agree with me as well.
